A Set for the Road

Scenic designer for the touring production of A Christmas Carol with Duke's Theatre Company and Gordon Craig Theatre. I designed and built a collapsible stage for touring use, and constructed and scenic-painted the backdrop elements to create a modular set built for transport and repeated installation across venues.

This one was a proper design challenge as much as a build one. The set had to work as a full production on stage, but also had to come apart, travel, and go back together identically at every new venue. Every decision, from the stage mechanism to how the backdrops folded, had to serve both the show and the road.
