POV
A whole
lot of
coffee
For BUILDHOLLYWOOD's Starbucks campaign, I fabricated and installed a large-scale 3D billboard for a London site. While the Manchester team built their own version of the same concept, so we were constantly comparing notes on what actually worked.
The whole structure was carved out of Kingspan to get the depth and shape the design needed. Then came the real challenge: how do you cover an entire billboard in actual coffee and have it survive UK weather? A lot of that was trial and error, testing materials, figuring out what would hold up outdoors without falling apart in the rain. I also did the scenic spray work myself, building in shadow and depth so the surface read as textured and real rather than flat.
Once it was built, I was on the install too. Getting it up, secured, and looking right for public display. Start to finish, it was carving, material testing, coffee surfacing, scenic finishing, weatherproofing and installation, all to turn a brand idea into something people would actually walk past on the street.
