Food prop fabrication/ dressing

Making Fake Food Look Real and last

Fabricated a chip stack prop for a commercial food shoot with Balthazar and Lorch Studios. I built a reinforced chicken wire and poly armature to establish the structural form, then applied real chips individually to get camera ready texture and realism. The result was a durable prop that held its visual integrity across a full day of shooting.

The tricky part with food props like this is they have to lie, yet look completely real and appetizing on camera, while actually being built to survive hours of handling, lighting heat and repeated takes without falling apart. That balance between illusion and engineering is basically the whole job in miniature.
